Riggs effortlessly encapsulates a sense of old Washingtonian class. The hotel's sensitive restoration celebrates its banking heritage, with colourful interiors melting with ornate stone, brass, and wood. The hotel is a prime DC gathering place — a haven for the city's great, good, and gorgeous (helped in no small part by it's close proximity to the White House...).
Alexander Baxter Studio has been working with Riggs since 2023 to document life in the hotel, producing images to meet needs from sales to recruitment. In 2024, we worked with the hotel to reimagine their lifestyle photography library, taking on pre-production, model sourcing, and creative direction.
Our most recent collaboration with Riggs involved trying to re-imagine how a hotel reveals itself to prospective guests. In place of contrived, staged lifestyle images, we sought to take a more editorial approach — hopefully allowing someone to imagine themselves in the space.
Alexander Baxter Studio is a small but diverse creative practice based in Scotland and working globally. We’re particularly interested in the hospitality, travel, and creative sectors. Alexander works with a small team of in-house and network creatives on beautiful projects at all scales. Together, we create brand strategies, visual identities, websites, printed matter, photography, illustration, and films.
